Deep Focus Still Matters
Focus is a trainable SAT and ACT skill
Digital testing does not remove the need for sustained attention. The SAT requires students to stay accurate across timed modules, and ACT preparation also rewards steady decision-making over an entire section.
Start with a realistic schedule by building a focused SAT study plan. If guided structure would help, you can also register for a free class.
Train focus like a test skill
- Schedule 32- to 35-minute distraction-free practice blocks.
- Put the phone in another room instead of relying on willpower.
- Work in one tab or one practice environment whenever possible.
- Mark a difficult question and move on rather than spending the whole block on it.
- Take a short reset after the block, then review mistakes while the reasoning is fresh.
Once a week, extend practice to a full timed section, then later to full-length practice. For another efficiency-focused approach, read Study Smarter, Not Longer.
Key takeaway: The goal is not endless study. It is sustained, accurate decision-making for the length of the real task.
