*Went from 1460 to 1580 by self-studying books only and saving all Bluebook tests for the end - is this kind of jump normal before my first SAT?*

Progress, finally. I've been solely self-studying using books. I saved all the Bluebook practice tests until after I thoroughly finished both books. I was at first disappointed with my 1460 but have since improved up to a 1580 (preparing to take my first SAT ever).

Yep. No tests until after I learned all the content from the books. I took my first practice test once I fully completed them both.

That is an insane level of discipline. Most people take a diagnostic first to see where they are at, but your method clearly works

For me I like to read it once to understand the idea then read it the second time to memorize the tiny details.

Also, use Erica Meltzer's grammar books and do all the question bank questions you can find. That is the standard for breaking 700+ in English.

The third way that no one has mentioned is to use the quadratic formula to find a and c. It's fairly quick as well once you get b=(31-2a)/3 and substitute it ba…
